To obtain a global snapshot of how organizations are using cloud computing, the IBM Center for Applied Insights surveyed more than 800 cloud decision makers and users — split evenly between business and IT functions, spanning 24 industries and 13 countries.
The study reveals that cloud is no longer just an IT obsession. Business leaders are becoming increasingly focused on the business value cloud provides, and their strategic interest in cloud is projected to surpass that of their IT counterparts.
To understand how organizations approach cloud, we grouped them based on the maturity of their cloud adoption and whether they’re reporting competitive advantage from it. We gained some insight by studying those at leading edge of this movement – the “Pacesetter” enterprises that have deployed cloud broadly and are gaining competitive advantage through their efforts.
